The Club La Santa IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote was fully updated in 2019. Now in the brand new location of Playa Blanca, on the spectacular coast of Lanzarote, featuring an incredible sea swim in the Atlantic Ocean, the race returns in 2020 for its 9th edition. Set in the home of Europe’s original IRONMAN race (The Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote), this race, set in the beautiful Playa Blanca, is bound to be a favourite with athletes in 2020. Register now to avoid disappointment.

An alternative journey through the other-worldly lava fields and famous volcanoes of Lanzarote! This IRONMAN 70.3 starts with a swim in the Atlantic Ocean and is followed by a challenging bike route. Finish your day where it all started by running a half marathon, in the resort town of Playa Blanca, cheered on by thousands of spectators, friends and family.

The actual IRONMAN 70.3 race will take place on Saturday, but there are a number of events in the days leading up to the race, plus events on the day afterwards, which are really worth attending. The entire event takes place in and around Playa Blanca, making it the ideal place to stay.

Entry fee for 2020 IRONMAN Lanzarote – €225 per entry. This represents a €70 reduction on buying the entry directly.

You will be sent a code, which will allow you to enter all of your personal details onto the official event website and register for the race, without having to pay the usual 8% registration fee

The entry prices are as per the below dates, if booked directly on the event website.
- From 2 February to 16 May – €275 plus 8% registration fee = €297
- From 17 May to 20 September – €305 plus 8% registration fee = €328
Registration deadline: 2020 (or as soon as the race slot contingent has been exhausted)

All of the activities listed below take place at Club La Santa, an approximate 40 km journey from Playa Blanca. There will be a shuttle service available between Playa Blanca and Club La Santa, to take place as follows;
- (Free transfer) Athlete Check-in – Wednesday
- (Cost TBC for a round trip) Athlete Check-in, Pre-race meetings, Parade of Nations, Pasta Party – Thursday

Event Details

The Club La Santa IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote has undergone a total overhaul in recent years. Now featuring a brand new course, including a beautiful sea swim at the stunning Dorada Beach, this is certainly not a race to miss.

08:00 race start – 1.9 km Swim

For the one-loop 1.9 km (1.2 mile) swim, the athletes will line up at Dorada Beach, Playa Blanca. After completing a single, clockwise loop athletes will return back at Dorada Beach. The swim exit and first transition will be at the opposite end of the beach. Further details for the new swim course can be found here

Bike Course, 90.1 km

There will be a brand new bike course in 2020. The one-loop, 90 km (56 mile) course will take athletes on an incredible tout of the southern part of the island of Lanzarote. The course also features a KOM and QOM competition section. The the 5.2 km King and Queen of the Mountain is between the Uga Roundabout and Femés Road. IMPORTANT! The road of Femés is closed for cycling until race day. You can do a course recce in a vehicle, but for security reasons the road is not open for cyclists until race day.

Run Course, 21.1 km

The new run course takes place on the streets of Playa Blanca. The course consists of 4 loops totalling 21.1 km (13.1 mile). All runners will appreciate the crowd support on the pleasant, circular course. The course heads slightly inland, before continuing along the seafront and across the harbour, and then heading towards a final stretch to the finish line. Arrival Day – September 30, 2020

We will provide transfers today, from Arrecife airport, to our hotel in Playa Blanca. These transfers will take place between 10.00 and 18.00 today. Our mechanic will then be available at the hotel today to assist you with building/ reassembling your bike, and making any necessary adjustments.

- 10:00 – 18:00 – Registration, IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote Info Centre open, Club La Santa
Athlete check – in takes place today, at Club La Santa. A shuttle service, from Playa Blanca to Club La Santa, will be provided, free of charge, today for athlete Check-in. Please click here to see the bus times and stops in Puerto del Carmen (2019 information. 2020 will follow in due course).

Bike Course Preview Shuttle and Ironkids – 1 October, 2020

It is possible to arrive today, however we will not be able to provide airport transfers, so you will need to make your own arrangements for transportation to our hotel. If you are arriving today, a member of our team will make contact with you this evening.

Today is the day of our IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote Bike Course Preview Shuttle. We will drive through the IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote bike course, stopping at Club La Santa for about one hour for race pack pick up. After registering we will then return to Playa Blanca.

Alternatively a shuttle service from Playa Blanca to Club La Santa is available today for athlete Check-in (free transfer provided by the event organisers). Please click here to see the bus times and stops in Puerto del Carmen (2019 information. 2020 will follow in due course).

IRONKIDS 70.3 Lanzarote

IRONKIDS 70.3 Lanzarote is a special opportunity for children aged 7-17 years to get involved in the weekend. The event consists of a swim and a run. The race is included in the Club La Santa IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote week schedule. It will be held at 17:00, and will be held at Playa Dorada, Playa Blanca (Lanzarote)

Bike and Bag Check In – 2 October, 2020

Today, after breakfast, you can ride across to the Bike Check-In area. Bike check in is in Playa Blanca and just 1 km away from our hotel. Our mechanic will be available today to assist with any last minute tweaks and adjustments your bike may need.

Prize Money and Qualifying Slots

The Club la Santa IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote is a qualifying race for the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, which in 2020 will be held in Taupo New Zealand. To claim your slot you MUST attend roll down, with ID and a valid credit card.

A total prize purse of $ will be divided between the top 6 men and women in the Professional category.

Single travellers and twin to share

We welcome single travellers on our holidays and tour packages. This is a great way to meet like- minded people and make new friends. There are two options available to you, if you would like to travel as a single traveller. A single room (with single room supplement) or, if you want to avoid extra cost, then you can make use of our ‘twin to share’ option. We will pair you up with another rider (of the same sex) and you can still enjoy the event without any extra expense.
