A hot-spot for tourists all year round, the iconic city of Paris comes to life on the 1st March as it welcomes 40,000 runners to its street for the Paris Half Marathon. With musical entertainment and stunning sights along the way, this incredible event is a must-do for half marathon runners.

Paris Half Marathon Event Details

The 2021 Paris Half Marathon will take place on Sunday 5th September 2021.

Enjoyed by over 37,000 finishers in 2019, the Paris Half Marathon continues to grow in popularity year by year and it is easy to see why.

New Course

In 2021 the course will start and finish within Paris city centre to improve your experience on the big day! With a start on the Quais d’Austerlitz and a finish on the Quais François Mauriac (in front of the Bibliothèque François Mitterrand) located at the foot of the metro and the RER. After the race, you’ll be able to enjoy the many shops and terraces on the edge of the Seine or the nearby avenues of this magnificent renovated quarter of the 13^th arrondissement.

Like previous editions, you’ll admire the capital’s many emblematic monuments: Bastille, Rue de Rivoli, Hôtel de Ville, Quais de Seine, the Bois de Vincennes and its Château, and Pont de Tolbiac. Running enthusiasts, sponsors and exhibitors gather for the 2 days leading up to the Paris Half Marathon. Giving a huge amount of support for the runners as many spectators that line the Parisian streets to cheer you on with many musical events along the way. The course is relatively flat, allowing a significant number of runners to beat their personal bests. Every year, elite runners from Kenya or Ethiopia put in performances of international standard.

Below you will see the itinerary for your running weekend in Paris:

Friday 3rd September 2021

Please arrange your own travel to Paris and make your way to the Hotel De La Porte Doree. Depending on your arrival time, you will have the opportunity to attend the marathon EXPO. You can collect your bib on Friday from 10.00 until 19.30.

Our running representative will do a guided trip to and from the Expo from the hotel today.

Our local running representative will organise a welcome meeting, so you can meet the others runners on this tour.

Saturday 4th September 2021

This morning at approximately 8am (time TBC) enjoy a 5k warm up run around a local park led by our guide, with half marathon runners, friends and family all welcome.

Head to the marathon Expo today to collect your all-important race pack. Bibs can be collected between 9am – 7.30pm. The Semi de Paris EXPO village and registration is located at Grande Halle de La Villette, 211 Avenue Jean Jaurès. The start of the race is at he Quais d’Austerlitz, and the finish is on the Quais François Mauriac (in front of the Bibliothèque François Mitterrand) located at the foot of the metro and the RER. Following the event you can explore the wonderful city of Paris – snap a photo of the Arc de Triumph, climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower, enjoy the local cuisine or check out the shops.

Our local running representative will lead a guided trip to and from the Expo from the hotel today.

During the evening, meet our local running representative who will be holding an informal meeting to share with you hints and tips for running a half marathon.

Sunday 5th September 2021 – Semi de Paris

It is Half Marathon day! Take your place on the Paris Half Marathon starting line! Our local running representative will accompany you to the start today. From the hotel, we take the Metro a short 25 minutes to the start. The finish is in the same location as the start line, so it’s just 25 minutes back to the hotel after the finish.

Hotel de La Porte Doree

You will stay at the Hotel de La Porte Doree which is excellently located for the start, finish and expo.

The hotel is located to a few metro stops from the city’s main tourist centre and is close to the Bois de Vincennes. From the hotel, you can walk to the centre of Paris along the ancient Roman viaduct, transformed into an elevated garden. There are numerous bus and metro lines near the hotel that offer quick, easy access to the city’s top tourist attractions.

Rooms – Rooms are furnished with Henri II style antiques but with modern comforts. Each room is different with some rooms having period fireplaces.

Important Notice: Compulsory Medical Certificate

All events in France require you to present a medical certificate from your doctor with your entry stating there is no existing health problem preventing you taking part in a running competition. You will need to produce this certificate in Paris at the expo to pick up your race number. You can download the form to give to your doctor here or alternatively by visiting Sports Medical Certificates, you can enter your details for an online medical certification. Sports Travel International can accept no responsibility for failure to comply with this instruction, and no refunds will be given. Also, to run in the Paris Half Marathon, you must be born in or before 2000. You can enter if you are younger but only if the parental consent form has been signed and provided at registration
