The Walt Disney World Marathon is an annual marathon held every January in Florida by runDisney©. Start 2024 the right way by running through the magical world of the Walt Disney Resort. Whether you want to dress up as your favourite Disney character, come as a supporter or cross the iconic finish line, there really is something for everyone at the family-friendly event.

Each year there are many running events held at Disney World, however the most popular one is the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. The Marathon is part of a weekend race series that also includes a 5K, a 10K, and a Half Marathon. With more kilometres, more medals and more participants than any other runDisney© weekend, this event is a runner’s paradise!

The running event is formed of two challenges. The Goofy Race & Half Challenge© and the Dopey Challenge©. Participants begin with a 5K, 10K, and then a Half Marathon before the full Marathon on the Sunday. To complete the Goofy Race & Half Challenge© you will need to run the Half and Full Marathon. And those wanting to complete the Dopey Challenge© will need to run all four races.

If you complete all 4 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend races, you will earn 6 medals, as you will automatically complete the Goofy Challenge©:
- 4 individual events medals
- Goofy’s Race and Half Challenge© medal
- Dopey Challenge© medal

The highlight of the event is the marathon, which hopefully comes as no surprise. As the only full marathon run on Walt Disney World property, this event invites all of types of runners, beginners, seasoned marathoners or those in between as the race maintains a loose, fun, low pressure atmosphere. Along the course you will run past all of your favourite and iconic Disney characters, including some rarely seen ones. There is also live entertainment and great crowd support to keep you motivated from start to end.

Although the Marathon starts early on the Sunday (5:30am), you will have the opportunity to see and run through all of the theme parks while the gates are still closed to the public. Soak in all of the atmosphere and magic next January!

Please note that in 2024, we will be offering on-site hotels and entry packages for the event so that you can make the most of your trip at the Walt Disney World. More details coming soon.
