Duration: 3 Nights Distance: Marathon, 10k, 50k (new for 2019)
The Marine Corps Marathon, in Washington DC, started in 1975 when Colonel James L. Fowler decided to create a marathon that promoted goodwill between the military and the post-Vietnam community, and to help raise money for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. The aim was to bring the community together to show support for the US Marine Corps. Along the course, you will be taking in many of Washington’s major monuments.
The impeccable organization on a scenic course is managed by the US Marines in Arlington, Virginia, and the nation’s capital. The Marine Corps Marathon is one of the largest marathons both in the US and around the globe, bringing in runners from all 50 states and over 60 countries worldwide!
Otherwise known as ‘The Best Marathon in the Mid Atlantic’ and ‘the best marathon for beginners’, it’s a perfect way to spend the last weekend in October. Whether you’re an experienced runner, or you are running your first marathon, this is a running event like no other; and something definitely not to be missed!
