There’s so much more to running a marathon than most people realise…
Yes, in a nutshell you’re putting one foot in front of the other until you reach the finish line. That’s the classic routine – and it’s worked amazingly since… well… forever! But at Sports Travel International we realise that a new year should mean just that… something new!
That’s why we’ve put together some of the most exciting, quirky and surprising running experiences you’re ever likely to find for 2019!
Plus, not only are these unique trips new to Sports Travel International but they’re brand new to Ireland as a whole!
Bottom line: In Ireland, you won’t find these spectacular runs anywhere else.
Let’s take a look…
Great Wall Marathon 2019
One of the few true wonders of our planet, the gargantuan Great Wall of China has been mesmerising historians, locals and tourists for centuries. Originally built as a series of structures to defend against oncoming invaders, it has since become one of the most popular global destinations for holidaymakers and runners alike.
In 2019 Sports Travel International are proud to guarantee our patrons entry to the Great Wall Marathon.
The route will take you onto the iconic wall itself – so you can witness its incredible building work and stunning views first hand – as well as through some of the local Chinese villages surrounding the ancient structure. But if the marathon sounds like a bit too much of a physical push for you, don’t worry! You’ll also have the choice of the half marathon or 8.5km fun run.
There’s also a bunch of tempting sightseeing expeditions available during your trip to satisfy the view-hunter in you!
Prices start from €1429pp for this once in a lifetime running experience:
If you’ve got a taste for Shiraz, Pinot Grigio or all-things wine in general, then do we have a run for you!
The Marathon du Medoc gives runners the chance to sample some of the finest wines in the region of Margaux (near Bordeaux) as they run the race! Not only this, but on your travels you’ll run through some of the most famous vineyards in all of France, so you know that the wine you’ll be tasting will be nothing but top-notch!
Oh, and if you thought these were the only race highlights, think again…
This year the theme of the race is… SUPER HEROES!! Dress up as your favourite heroes from Marvel, DC or any other superhero universe. So if it looks like Batman might have had one too many, it’s all just part of the fun!
When it comes to your costume the choice is entirely yours – make sure you get creative!
This wacky but totally wonderful run is available from the price of €479pp plus €89pp race entry fee and sells out ridiculously fast (for obvious reasons) so don’t miss out!
If superheroes and wine aren’t your preferred mix, then maybe a tea party with the Mad Hatter is more up your street?
The 2019 Disneyland Paris Run Weekend is packed full of Disney magic that will please even the most hardened fairytale-phobe.
All of the most jaw-dropping Disney entertainment and hospitality will be available during your stay, giving you plenty of time to soak up all the world’s most recognisable resort has to offer. Then it’s onto the race where you can join thousands of other enthusiastic runners, many of which will be dressed to the nines as their favourite Disney characters!
Everything from classic heroes like Hercules and Mulan to dastardly villains like Ursula and Cruella de Vil will be on show. Although, given their popularity in recent years, you can expect to see a few Moanas and Elsas in the children’s race!
Yes, even the little ones can get involved! There’s also the option to take part in the various other running events over the weekend meaning you’ll be spoilt for choice!
There are various pricing and hotel options available, so be sure to check out this link to book your Disneyland trip of a lifetime!
